Tui Na Chinese Massage Ballarat

At my Ballarat clinic, I offer Tui Na (pronounced twee-nah), a traditional Chinese therapeutic massage that works in harmony with acupuncture to restore balance, reduce pain, and improve overall wellbeing. Tui Na is a key part of Chinese medicine and has been used for centuries to address both acute injuries and chronic conditions by targeting the body’s meridians and energy flow.

Unlike a general relaxation massage, Tui Na uses specialised Chinese techniques such as rolling, kneading, pressing, rubbing, and grasping to stimulate acupuncture points, relax muscles, and encourage the smooth flow of Qi (energy) and blood. There are some differences in technique, too; a Tui Na massage will typically involve more kneading, pressing, and rubbing than a regular massage, and the therapist will often use their arms or elbows to apply pressure to deeper areas of the body.

Treatment options at my clinic

I offer two ways to experience Tui Na at my Ballarat clinic:

  • Extended Tui Na + Acupuncture treatment

  • In this unique treatment option, the first half of your appointment is dedicated to a longer, more focused Tui Na massage. This is followed by a full acupuncture treatment, allowing you to benefit from the best of both worlds — the physical release of massage combined with the energetic balancing of acupuncture.

  • Standard acupuncture treatment

    (with optional Tui Na)

  • In a standard acupuncture session, Tui Na massage may be included if it is indicated for your condition. This is typically a shorter, targeted massage within the appointment and may be combined with other therapies such as cupping or moxibustion.

Please note: I do not offer standalone Tui Na massage sessions. Health fund rebates are only available for treatments that include acupuncture.

What to expect

Tui Na can be performed fully clothed (loose clothing is preferred) or directly on the skin using traditional Chinese herbal liniments such as Po Sum On or Zheng Gu Shui. If required, cupping therapy may also be incorporated into your treatment for deeper muscle release.

Whether you’re seeking pain relief, help with injury recovery, stress reduction, or overall improved wellbeing, Tui Na combined with acupuncture offers a deeply restorative experience rooted in the wisdom of Chinese medicine.
